Sunday School

9:00 – 10:00 am

We have a variety of adult classes that that are sure to meet your needs. Some of these classes are age sensitive and some are multi-generational, some are gender separated and some are co-ed, some are for the married and some are for those that are single but all of these classes are for the teaching of the Word of God and the fellowship with others.

Sunday is the place to go in order to get connected to all things First Baptist Vidalia and it is also the caring arm of our church.

Adult I Dept.

Newlyweds (A-1)
Teachers: Jeff & Cynthia McLain
This class is for newly married couples (3 years or under) or engaged couples who have plans to be married in the near future. The class will focus on Bible studies and topics pertinent to the young married couple. The teaching format is lecture with some discussion.

Kindred (A-2)
Teachers: Jim & Sibley Meadows
This class for both men and women provides an in-depth study of books of the Bible through lecture and discussion and application of the scriptures to the lives of its members. As the name implies, fellowship and building relationships are an important part of the class as they care for and support each other and pray for each other on a weekly basis. The general age range for this class is 30’s and 40’s.

The Life (F-6)
Teacher: Steve Glover
We welcome couples and singles of all ages in this class as we focus on books of the Bible studies as well as some topical series studies. We range in ages 25-55 and primarily teach by discussion.

Berean Women (A-4)
Teacher: Katy Sammons
This class provides substantive Bible study for women of all ages and in all phases of life. We focus on books of the Bible using a God-centered approach to our studies. We pray for one another and fellowship regularly. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, our desire is to always receive the Word with eagerness, and to look daily into its depths that we may know Christ and be conformed to His image. Please join us in room A-4 on Sunday mornings at 9 AM. In addition to our weekly class meetings and periodic fellowship, we maintain a blog and an online prayer group for support and encouragement.

Adult II Dept.

Beloved Women’s Class (A-3)
Teachers: Suzanne Dixon
This class is for adult women of all ages who want to study the Bible within an encouraging environment. The teaching format is lecture with some discussion.

Salt & Light Men (A4)
Teachers: Tim Ritchie
This class is for men of all ages, single or married. We do a teaching with discussion study where everyone has an opportunity to share as we cover issues that pertain to men and what is needed to be a man of God in today’s environment. Our mission statement is: We are Men of God, Men of Honor, Men of Integrity, Men that choose not to compromise.

Pairs and Spares (F-2)
Teachers: Joe Palmer, Dennis Madison
The varied membership of this class includes singles and couples mostly in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. Their lesson focus is comprehensive studies of books of the Bible, alternating Old and New Testament books primarily taught by lecture.

Caring & Sharing (F-1)
Teacher: Tom Moore
This class has a diverse membership that includes couples and singles age 50 and above. The lessons and discussion are centered on in-depth studies of the scriptures, book-by-book.

Ties that Bind (F-7)
Teacher: Bill Wimberly
Members of this class use the quarterly Sunday School literature as the basis for their study and discussion, but occasionally they explore topics that may be of special interests to members.

Joy (F-5)
Teachers: Glenda Moye, Patricia Melton, Dot Trapnell, Peggy Wilson, Alice Claxton
This class for ladies offers a study of the Bible book-by-book primarily by lecture. Supplemental materials may also be included in order for members to gain a more thorough understanding of scriptures. The age range for this class is 40 – 70.

Water Drawers (Conference Room, Administration Bldg.)
Teacher: Marie Warnock
A class for ladies of all ages studying God’s Word which gets its name based on a picture of a woman drawing deeply from the wells of salvation. It is primarily taught by lecture.

ADULT III

Winsome (F-3)
Teachers: Rebecca Van Dyke, Sarah Chapman, Claire Rogers, Gail Harris
The Sunday School literature is used as the study and discussion material for this class of senior adult ladies where emphasis is often on service to others and those who may be in need.

Fellowship (F-4)
Teachers: Ralph Parsons, William McLain, Ronald Frost
This class of adult men, age 40 and above, offers studies of the Sunday School literature with discussion of applications to the lives of its service-minded members.

Steadfast (F-8)
Teachers: Lois Fleming, Ray McKee, George Farmer
This senior ladies’ class is focused on traditional study by lecture through the quarterly Sunday School literature.

Men’s Bible Class (F-9)
Teachers: Steve Brown, Ray McKee, Billy Peek, Maxwell Young
Traditional worship in the form of song and lecture type teaching of the Sunday School literature is the focus of this class. It is made up of mostly senior adult men.
